Watercolor / Abstract
View
this Collection
I find doing abstracts in watercolor to be more challenging than in oils. Mainly because of the planning required with the watercolor medium, I feel less able to let the piece "evolve". Paint can be lifted but pure white can never be fully attained once painted. Having said that, the basic concepts of composition, balance, focal points, color theory, etc. still apply to non objective art so a certain amount of planning is good!

I enjoy non objective art & find it to be quite challenging. I can't rely on my technical skills & ability to draw. The paintings are about color relationships, shape, form or may focus on something as specific as edges, for example. It's a very process oriented endeavor & I can easily get lost in "the zone"! I have several pieces sitting around at different stages of their evolution. I have much more appreciation & respect for abstract & non objective art now that I've tried it!
